What is a permanent magnet chuck?

Permanent magnetic chuck, also known as magnetic chuck or permanent magnetic jack, is a necessary handling tool for machinery factory, mold factory, forging factory, steel mill, shipyard and other places where steel is used. It can greatly improve the handling efficiency of massive, cylindrical, plate and irregular magnetic conductive steel materials. The permanent magnet chuck is made of high-performance rare earth material neodymium iron boron (N>40) as the core. By manually turning the handle of the chuck, the magnetic system of neodymium iron boron inside the chuck is changed, achieving the absorption or release of the workpiece that needs to be transported. Principle of permanent magnetic chuck: The permanent magnetic chuck is designed by using the continuity principle of magnetic flux and the superposition principle of magnetic field. The magnetic circuit of the permanent magnetic chuck is designed into multiple magnetic systems. Through the relative movement of the magnetic systems, the magnetic field intensity on the working magnetic pole can be added or eliminated, so as to achieve the purpose of holding and unloading. Design of permanent magnetic chuck: When designing permanent magnetic chuck, the first step is to carefully design the magnetic circuit. A good magnetic circuit structure can allow more magnetic flux to accumulate on the working surface as much as possible, meeting the requirements of lifting weight, and minimizing the use of neodymium iron boron materials. At the same time, when designing the magnetic circuit, careful consideration should also be given to the ease with which the operator can achieve work unloading. After years of rapid development, China's electric permanent magnetic chuck have been widely used in various metal cutting machine tools such as surface grinders, CNC milling machines, machining centers, mold testing and rapid mold replacement in the mold industry, transportation processes such as uncoiling, stacking, cleaning, and stamping of steel plates in automated production lines in the automotive and home appliance industry, as well as lifting and handling of large steel plates and blocks in cargo yards and docks.

 

As an irreplaceable important equipment and means in advanced manufacturing, electric permanent magnetic chuck have become an important indicator of a country's manufacturing and technological level.

 

In China's mechanical processing, mold manufacturing, metallurgy and other industries, some heavy steel or iron plates, precision or surface roughness requirements of steel processing products or semi-finished products, etc. were previously mostly lifted using steel wire rope bundling, or using electromagnets for lifting. However, electromagnets have a large volume, high cost, multiple faults, and maintenance difficulties. In addition, electromagnets consume a large amount of electrical energy during operation, and once power outage occurs, Accidents are prone to occur.

 

With the emergence of high-performance neodymium iron boron rare earth materials, the development of magnetic tools using neodymium iron boron permanent magnetic materials has become a trend, and permanent magnetic chucks have emerged.

 

The principle of permanent magnetic chuck

The permanent magnet chuck is designed based on the principle of continuity of magnetic flux and the superposition principle of magnetic field. The magnetic force line comes out from the N pole of the magnet, passes through the yoke, passes through the ferromagnetic workpiece, and then returns to the yoke to enter the S pole of the magnet. In this way, the workpiece can be firmly sucked onto the working surface of the permanent magnet chuck.

 

If the magnetic field line does not reach the working pole surface of the permanent magnet chuck, a closed circuit of the magnetic circuit is formed inside the permanent magnet chuck. Almost no magnetic field line comes out of the working pole surface of the permanent magnet chuck, so there is no suction on the workpiece, and unloading can be achieved smoothly.

Design of permanent magnetic chuck

The structure of a permanent magnet chuck is assembled from accessories such as a panel, magnet, base, clamp, wrench, etc. When designing permanent magnetic chuck, the first step is to carefully design the magnetic circuit. A good magnetic circuit structure can allow more magnetic flux to accumulate on the working surface as much as possible, meeting the requirements of lifting weight, and minimizing the use of neodymium iron boron materials. At the same time, in the permanent magnet circuit, in order to reduce magnetic resistance and increase the magnetic flux density of key parts of the working pole surface, some soft magnetic materials are used as magnetic yokes.
