Common Forming Equipment for Powder Metallurgical Parts Production, Processing and Manufacturing

The forming equipment used in the production of powder metallurgy mechanical parts can be divided into three categories according to their power transmission mechanisms, namely mechanical powder forming press, hydraulic powder forming press, and modified punch forming press. The selection of a press can be determined based on factors such as the cross-sectional area, geometric accuracy, and shape complexity of powder metallurgy mechanical parts, the uniformity requirements for density in various parts of the billet, and the size of the production batch.

 

Before the late 1950s, the forming equipment used in the production of powder metallurgy mechanical parts was mainly hydraulic powder forming machines and modified punch forming machines. After the 1950s, equipment manufacturers developed and produced high-efficiency fully automatic mechanical powder forming presses to meet the needs of the production of large, wide, and complex shape powder metallurgy mechanical parts.

  1. Mechanical presses have a high production rate, which is 1.5 to 5 times that of hydraulic presses. Mechanical stability, while hydraulic stability decreases with time.


  2. When forming parts using a mechanical press, the dimensional accuracy of the parts is high.


  3. When using a mechanical press to make surface shaped parts with multiple steps, it has high dimensional accuracy, uniform density difference, and convenient and simple operation and adjustment.


  4. Hydraulic presses have high energy consumption and low efficiency. The energy consumption is 1.5-2 times that of a mechanical press.


  5. The equipment price of mechanical presses is relatively higher than that of hydraulic presses, but the cost of producing each powder metallurgy component is lower.


  6. The mechanical press has overload protection and detection protection functions, greatly reducing the scrap rate of products and the occurrence of safety accidents.
